The Late Shift sets sail with straight mate James Ward.
This week on the Late Shift we speak to our straight mate, James Ward, the youngest participant in this years Sydney to Hobart Yacht race. James crewed the 45 foot Yacht, Balance, skippered by money media mogule, Paul Clitheroe. We talk to James about his sailing career, the big race and of course, ask him our final 5 late shift straight mate questions.
The Sydney to Hobart Yacht race is one of this country’s greatest sporting events. The race hosts yachts of different shapes and sizes to compete in a race from Sydney Harbour to Hobart, approximately 1170 km and is widely considered to be one of the most difficult yacht races in the world. The race is a physical and mentally challenging for all participants as they put their safety and success in the hands of the often-volatile Mother Nature.
Check out the Sydney to Hobart website at http://rolexsydneyhobart.com/default.asp for more information on the race and the final standing for 2010.
One Hit Wonders!
Last week we ran through some of the best (and worst) one hit wonders of the last 30 years. Some tracks are great and conjure memories of times long ago, other should simply never have been hits at all but all are very recognisable tracks by artists that could never quite match the success of their big hit.

The Late Shift Christmas Special
If Christmas music makes you a bit queasy then don't click here because we have a list of tracks that are either going to get your Christmas Juices flowing or get those sickly juices flowing. We sample some Christmas tracks form some classic artists such as Bing Crosby and Elvis Presley and also some more contemporary additions to the Christmas music bill such as Robbie Williams, Christine Aguilera and of course that huge Christmas hit by Maria Carey.
