This week on the Late Shift we speak to our straight mate, James Ward, the youngest participant in this years Sydney to Hobart Yacht race. James crewed the 45 foot Yacht, Balance, skippered by money media mogule, Paul Clitheroe. We talk to James about his sailing career, the big race and of course, ask him our final 5 late shift straight mate questions.
The Sydney to Hobart Yacht race is one of this country’s greatest sporting events. The race hosts yachts of different shapes and sizes to compete in a race from Sydney Harbour to Hobart, approximately 1170 km and is widely considered to be one of the most difficult yacht races in the world. The race is a physical and mentally challenging for all participants as they put their safety and success in the hands of the often-volatile Mother Nature.
